The Teaching Manager is responsible for supervising and supporting a team of EFL teachers, and ensuring that the academic program runs smoothly and that the highest possible academic standards are maintained.
Read, understand and follow the ‘Teaching Manager’ and ‘Teacher’ manuals and be fully aware of ISV USApolicies for the safeguarding of children
Attend a TM training session before the centre open
Prioritise the safety and welfare of students at all times
Represent ISV USApositively in all conversations with clients, staff and the host centre
Establish and maintain open communications among staff, with students and clients and with Head Office
Be proactive in providing support and guidance to teachers, including leading teacher induction sessions
Ensure teaching staff follow the ISV USAsyllabus and teach communicative lessons
Be proactive incover teacher recruitment and keep the cover list updated daily (New York and New Jersey centres)
Organise and supervise the testing, induction and placement of students
Assign teachers to groupsaccording to their strengths and experience
Hold morning teacher meetings
Effectively manage resources and materials, making sure that they are returned to the staff room at the end of each teaching day and keeping an accurate record of course books given to students
Carry out lesson observations and feedback as directed by the Academic Manager and write feedbackon teaching staff at the end of the summer
Work to ensure the academic and recreational aspects of the programme are integrated
Teach as required to meet operational demands
Deal with day-to-day issues as and when they arise and with student and group leader enquiries on academic matters
Supervise completion of weekly reports
Print certificates
Maintain accurate and complete records, including completing and sending off staff timesheets forpayment
Maintain accurate and complete records of classroom bookings
Make sure teachers are in their classrooms before the start of each lesson and do not leave until the end
Check for student absences and/or illness at the start of each lesson
Encourage smart dress and professional behaviour at all times.•Supervise the completion of necessary administrative documentation - class registers, lesson plans, student profiles, end of course certificates, feedbacks
Make sure teachers leave their classrooms clean and tidy
Deal with student discipline issues and report any persistent bad behaviour to the Centre Director
Support the Centre Director and ISV USA Head Office staff
Attend student welcome meetings as required by the Centre Director (CD)
Distribute and Supervise on-line student questionnaires and teacher feedback forms
Display absolute commitment to the highest standards of professional behaviour and, at all times, to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children
Act at all times as an outstanding ambassador for the school
Person Specification
Education Level: Masters in either TESOL, ELT or Applied Linguistics (essential)
Professional Qualifications: State Teacher Licensure (essential) / DELTA, Trinity Dip TESOL - Educational management experience in a summer setting (desiderable)
Experience: A minimum of three years’ teaching experience of 10-17-year olds - Experience in working with Excel and google spreadsheets (essential) / Management experience with responsibility for a team, preferably in ESL/EFL (desiderable)
